Buyers go for High Index Rams
A good crowd turned up to enjoy a sunny night of hospitaility and quality rams at the inaugural on farm sale of the Sandyknowe Suffolks. A packed ringside saw 45 rams sold to average £677 and demand for top Index rams to the fore.
Top price of the day of 1600gns was paid by Charles Harding, Lodge Farm, Atterton, Nuneaton to join his Bently Flock. This son of Sandyknowe Tweed had the top index of 5.19. 1300gns was paid by John Mabon of the Lustruther Farming Company, Hawick, for another high index ram by Sandyknowe Teviot. He had an index of 4.6.
In total nine rams made four figure prices, with many going to regular buyers like Messrs Robertson of Shipley and Mr. McIntosh who had travelled from Dorest to make his two purchases. There were also several new buyers who had travelled some distance to the sale and left happy with their purchases.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported the sale and wish all of our buyers every success with their purchases.
